Master’s Degrees

Following your LLB degree, if you’re interested in doing more advanced studies and/or research in the field of Law, a Master’s degree is right for you. These are some of the programs you’d find in Canada

  1. Master of Laws (LLM)

This would be an obvious next step following your LLB. Here, you’ll dive deeper into the study of law as it transcends national borders. You’ll get to choose between course-based and research-based programs, with most universities offering both options. In the research option, you may have to submit either a research paper or a longer thesis, depending on the program requirement.

These programs are typically between 1 to 2 years long. Your studies would cost you about 20-25,000 CAD per annum.

Entry Requirements

Academic qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Law – LLB from recognised Indian universities are accepted. 

 

Minimum score required: min. GPA of 3.0 on 4-point scale / B+ grade / 70%.

English Language Requirements

IELTS Academic with min. 7.0.

Other requirements

Requirements may include:

  • Research Proposal, including indication of potential research supervisor

  • Letters of Recommendation

If you have chosen a research-based program, you’ll be expected to conduct original, publishable research in an area of specialization, covered by the respective university department. Some options include:
